Just got a new Ciunas DAC from John Kenny. Great improvement over JKDAC32. However, 192/24 files play in slow motion. Never had this problem with JKDAC32. Playing through my sound card (asus xonar essence stx) is fine too. I have a very powerfull dedicated music computer using Windows 8.1. Could it be Amanero driver?
-
Sounds like a driver issue.
What is audio path listing?
What happens when you upsample something to 192khz?
-
Will try upsampling tonight. can you clarify your question about audio path listing, please?
-
Audio Path is shown in the tooltip that pops up when you hover your mouse over the Equalizer button in the upper right corner.
Take note of the input, changes and output. Compare two files, one that plays fine and one that plays too slow.
-
Audio Path states, that no changes are being made in both cases, but any HiRes file plays slower. When I upsample 44.1/16 files, the play slow too.
-
Interesting.
Does the timerbar in MC progress normally?
-
Yes it does, when I down-sample HiRes files, it plays fine.
-
Sorry. I wasn't very clear.
When a file plays too slow, does the timerbar in MC progress normally (so that halfway through a song it sits at 100% while the song continues to play) or does it move slow as well?
Either way, it really sounds to me like a driver/hardware issue. You could try down- or upgrading the drivers see if that helps. Also, if you can choose between ASIO, WASAPI or even DirectSound I would try that too. Does the driver have a control panel with settings?
Out of interest, does it sound like it plays high samplerate files at 44.1? So with 88.2 or 96khz, the speed is about half, and with 192 the speed should be down to like a 4th of normal speed?
-
Just tried with Foobar and it is all fine. Only does it with JRiver. Any thoughts?
-
What output mode did you use with foobar?

Try different output modes: ASIO, WASAPI, DirectSound, Kernel Streaming.

Yes, the timerbar in MC does progress normally. Wasapi and KS don't work, but Direct Sound seems to work fine. I don't think this driver has a control panel.
-
For WASAPI it can help if you go into the output device settings in MC and adjust its buffer size. 100ms is the default and works for most devices, but sometimes you'll need a different value for some drivers, try increasing it slightly, and if that doesn't help, lowering it instead.

Tried, did not work
-
Disable event style for Wasapi.
-
Sorted out - there was a clock issue in the DAC. Thanks for your help.

Cool. Thanks or letting us know.

I have the same problem with an ASUS STX ...... slow playback with Hi Res files, but only when using ASIO.
How de you fix it?
