Hey guys,
Just built a Topanga CAPS pc from the recommendations over at Computeraudiophile. This along with JRiver works great on all files except native DSD files. When trying to play them to my 24/96 capable USB Parasound ZDAC (the downconversion settings are enabled), I get stuttering like crazy. I even tried placing the DSD files on the local pc's HD with similar results (rules out my network).
Im running Win8 64 and stock Topanaga. Could it be my pc does not have the horsepower to decode the DSD files to PCM on the fly or what??
Suggestions? I have tried all the misc. settings with buffering, "not" to play off of memory etc etc.
Thanks,
Brandon

I'm not familiar with that pc, what cpu and memory does it have?
Can you run a Benchmark from within MC? (Help/Benchmark).

That seems pretty low, and DSD files are not the easiest to play because of the high resampling requirements to convert DSD to PCM.

Yeh, as Hendrik said DSD is not easy. I suppose the score is on par for your hardware but not enough for what you're trying to do.
You could try bitstreaming DSD if DSD output is what you really want but you won't be able to decode/encode in and out of DSD I'm afraid.

I think you guys are correct, bummer! Well I guess I can convert the dsd files to FLAC and skip the PCM transcoding on the fly. If I convert them to 24/176 FLAC at least ill come close:)
