My WMP plays Matroski (sp) video files MUCH better than does MC because I have it setup to use CoreCodec instead of the internal decoder.
Is it possible to do this in J River?
-
You can use custom settings for DirectShow in MC, but we don't provide support.
Did you try setting video to Red October HQ?
-
What do you mean by MUCH better? Is it smoother? Are you using Use Hardware Acceleration in the video options?
-
Hardware, yes...
Thru MC, the video gets severely pixilated, freezes on some parts of the screen...
Just overall very "corrupt" looking.
Thru my external decoder, like butter :)
This is the first video I've seen this situation in MC.

I'll try that...it's the setting I normally use.
Does the player need to be restarted for the change to take effect...?
-
Nope....it's totally messed...
I have a pic but your forum disables uploads from Tapatalk.

That's not normal. Is it a low powered PC? If so, try Red October Standard.

Playback engine has no effect...it's the internal codec, as I've stated, WMP handles it just fine using external decoder.
I run a dual core AMD 2.7Ghz with 2Gb ran at 1066Mhz and ATI HD 3300 graphics. I think that is more than ample...

I don't see the option for this...
It looks as if MC uses DS automatically and with my CoreAVC codec setup like it is, MC should be using it during playback.
Which doesn't explain the performance difference I'm seeing.

Video Mode: Advanced > Custom
It would probably be good if you could upload a sample file though, to see if anything can be done to improve it.
Hardware accelerated decoding (DXVA or CUVID) tends to have far more problems than software decoding.

Did you try both Red October settings?
Try turning Hardware Acceleration both ways.

Tried both, yes...
I'll try without HW Accel.
