Can this be done without a clean re-install? TIA!

You shouldn't be able to delete the connected media views, they are only enabled or disabled via the program options.
Open options: "Tools > Options" and type connected into the search bar at the bottom. If it is not ticked, tick it and press OK.
If it is ticked already, something else is going on. Let us know how you get on.

Aha, many thanks, got it!!!! I must've unticked that box when working to streamline the UI a little for my better half. Thanks for the quick reply!
