I leave my Mac Mini on but have the screen saver option turned off. I do have my NAS set to hibernate after 30 minutes of inactivity. If I have MC18 open and the NAS goes into hibernation (disks stop spinning) when I try to play a track I get an error.
Last night all I did was go to the NAS through finder and once it woke up, it worked as it should. So, is there a way to add a feature that would wake the NAS up through MC?

Remote file systems are auto-mounted/unmounted, and default to a 10 minute unmount timeout. If there is no activity during this time, they will auto-unmount.
If you want the volume omnipresent, add the share as a Finder login item (System Preferences > User & Groups > Login Items).

Thanks for the reply MrC!
Isn't that what I have setup?

That does look right.
Perhaps MC needs to increase its wait timeout for sleepy network devices?

Exactly my point! ;) It would be really awesome if there was a one button wake up.

In the meantime, try this, you can run it from your Mac, and if in fact you have designated startup and shutdown times for your NAS, you can use it to "wake" it up when it is sleeping.

p.s. I have my Synology set to hibernate as well, and have not experienced this problem if I come back with the Mac Mini idle and then start music playback...Hmm...will experiment and report back. Are you running MC19 yet? :o
p.p.s ooops see a reference to MC19....

Thanks. It really would be nice if JRiver could do it though. More software on the computer. :'(
As for MC19 see here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=83922.msg573470#msg573470
