While playing music since switching to MC19 I occasionally get a stuttering sound effect with the word buffering displaying for about 5 seconds. I am using HDMI through an Onkyo receiver. I have it set to Wasapi with event style disabled. I have lengthened the buffering to 100ms and checked off play from memory but no improvement.
-
Try a smaller buffer.
Are the files local or on a network drive?
-
Try Jim's suggestion and if that doesn't help, also try the new Version 49 and then enable "Play silence".
-
I have same problem with v49 and v50, using network drive but this drive pretty fast (Synology wth all SSD and four gigabit RJ-45 to hub and also four from PC to hub). I didn't notice such problem with v37 to v39, but then jumped to v49.

Have noticed this too somewhere after v .41
Has been running fine with every release up to .41 & now suddenly getting clicks, pops and stutter issues with .51. Running ASIO drivers using Minimum Hardware Size buffer and 20ms in ASIO control panel (increased to 30ms, but no effect). Occurs with 5.1ch 96k/176.4 or 2 ch 96/384.8k or SACD.

I've got exactly the same issue here, at least during the first seconds of playback (each time when switching between songs)!

Do you guys have "Play Silence..." checked ?
Do you have "Use large hardware buffers" checked ?
-
I have 'do not play silence' unchecked and 50 ms buffer (recommended) with 'large hardware buffers' checked
-
Okay, to be clearer, I'm referring to the "Play Silence At Startup" checkbox.
-
Well, that seems to do something, will need some more time to make sure...
-
I tested again with v51 and still have stuttering whether Play Silence At Startup is set to "None" or "1/4" sec.
I've also varied Pre-buffering from 4 sec to 20 sec without any impact on the stuttering. Large hardware buffering is checked and I've varied the time from 25 msec to 500 msec without improvement.
The audio device is an exaSound ASIO (8 ch) with an e28 DAC.

For my i7 PC and M-Audio Audiophile USB everything runs fine with high latencies, but for my i7 laptop with Focusrite Forte USB the max. possible latency is limited by the Asio driver to 20ms. By the way, only the latest JRiver builds show these issues (as quoted above).

V.54 skips on some tracks at certain points - using WASAPI. Rolled back to v .41

V.54 skips on some tracks at certain points - using WASAPI. Rolled back to v .41
what has changed? ? - one machine (HTPC AMD) with Xonar ST ASIO driver pops skips & stutters and the other (Sandy Bridge Core i5) with Realtek WASAPI driver skips with the current version. v .41 plays fine on both with the same tracks.
