Title: Cannot play (my first bought) Blu-Ray disc
Post by: Ton on October 01, 2013, 06:03:17 pm
Until now I used MC 18  (18.0.212) mainly for playing video files and an occasional BD from downloaded files. I didn't have a BD player nor BD discs. I could play almost everything, BD files included.
Today however I bought an external BD player (a Samsung  SE-506 connected through USB to my pc) and the first blu-ray disc "Peter Gabriel Live In Athens 1982".
To my surprise I cannot play the disc with MC 18. At first I tried to open the m2ts file but then got an error saying: failed to open or parse file (hr=0x80004005). Then I did a search here and found a post where it was adviced to import the disc in the library. I did that and tried to start from there, but then I saw in the title bar "Waiting" and nothing happened after that. Even after a few minutes it was still the same.
I also tried to play the disc with Arcsoft TMT 5 and there it plays fine, although I have to admit that the first time TMT told me that it could not play the disc. After ejection and turning the disc a bit however it was o.k.
What is wrong here ?  Could it be the disc itself or has it something to do with MC 18 ?
Btw, I don't know if it is of any importance, but when I load the disc I don't see the real title but ERBRD5182.

Thanks for your reply.
But why does it play fine in TMT 5, without AnyDVD or DVDFab Passkey ?
I thought that these programs were only needed for ripping, but of course I may be (and most probably will be) wrong.

TMT bought the expensive decoder(not sure it that is the right term) and built it into their program...

Thanks again. It's clear to me.
Tried DVDFab Passkey meanwhile and all is fine now.
