Title: Stress Test - Media Server
Post by: jmone on October 07, 2013, 03:53:58 am
So I just "stress tested" my Media Server setup by running at the one time:
- 4 x Gismo's (set on High) all pulling BD material over WiFi
- 1 x Library Server Client playing a BD from the server (over Gigabite)
- 1 x Sync between Drive Bender Pools (from the server to the backup server running at 110MB/Sec

About as demanding as you could get and at many times Win 8's Resource Monitor was above 110% for CPU Usage (how is that possible?).

There are so many variables it is not funny but on my rig it was fine with 3 x Gizmos (and the other stuff) but at 4 x Gismos stuff they started stuttering or one would freeze (but the LS client was fine and so was the Sync).  My JR Score is around 5200 and is no doubt being hammered not by the disk throughput but the multiple Video Transcoding streams for Gizmo.

Not toooo bad!

Was that with or without intercom cross traffic? haha

Nice to hear you're having fun. What else would you do with your Monday?

"Listen, don't mention the war intercom! I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it all right!"  ;D

What else to do on a Holiday Monday?

I've always wanted to do something similar!

I have 3 PC clients (4 with my work laptop), the HTPC/Server itself and 3 or 4 mobile devices. I should try this too some time.
