Title: My NAS Paths MC19
Post by: Stuntflyer on October 08, 2013, 05:06:43 pm
Why does my NAS show paths like this and how can I get typical windows type paths to show instead?

You might need to map the drives/shares on your NAS to Windows drive letters.

I did that. Mapped drives and the NAS show typical windows paths inside of explorer. It's only inside MC19 that I see the network paths described earlier.

Did you map the drives before importing the media into MC?
You could try reimporting one or two files to see if they import with the correct path.
There are solutions to fix your problem, but it might be easier to just reimport the media.

The fix involves the Rename Move Copy feature and using the Find and Replace section in "update only mode". Basically, without moving any of the files physically, you tell MC to change the path it looks for the files.

However, the path you are showing is a bit strange: Are you sure you're not using your Nas's DLNA server functionality instead of MC's library with imported media?

"You could try reimporting one or two files to see if they import with the correct path. "
This works but leaves the old file on the NAS. How wpould I mass remove the old paths?

Sort the files by Filename, and select all those that use the NAS path, and hit Delete.

Thanks. The NAS is not listed in "playing to" as the "main" library. Should not the main library be the NAS since I don't store the library on my "c" drive? I do back it up to an external however.

Ignore the NAS' entry (if you see it) under Playing Now.  This is the discovered DLNA service provided by the NAS.

Instead, use the Main MC library, and configure MC to import the UNC (or mapped) paths to the files located on the NAS.

Would you please describe the steps to do this or point me to the info?

Under Playing Now > Playing from ... there is a Main Library. Select it, and Load (if it is not already loaded).

Go to Tools > Import > Configure Auto-Import... and add one or more paths, as required, to your NAS' files.

If you want to get fancy with auto-import:
