Try reinstalling your sound card driver to solve the volume control problem.

Thanks for the tip Jim, but I uninstalled again. Only this time I had removed library also. Now I have slider control available once more, but no library. I have one of the motherboard based soundcards at this time so I don't know if that would have helped or not.

At any rate the library was only 300 files or so. I 'll just re-rip.

Thanks-Mike

tell me you did not delete your MP3's

if you just removed the lib file, re-import the mp3's

KingSparta-

My mistake-for whatever reason I choose to import from the wrong folder at first. Did an import of harddrive and they are still there and back into MJ.

Now, dumb question of the day. I did library backup into a folder that was one of my own creation and selected that for my initial restore. Why didn't MJ pick it up from there?

King Sparta-

That was where I was looking from. It is listed as .zip type of file. At any rate it must have been the way I tried to import intially. I just assumed I could restore the library from that file.
Good news is I don't have to re-rip! Here is another question- do you, or anyone else for that matter, have fail to import when ripping on v8.###? I'm getting several misses on some cds. Not really a problem, just curious to know if ripping on the fly is what the difference is between this and v7.###.

if your getting failed to import, it may be that type of file is not selected to import, also if it is a Wav file it could be a Compressed Wav, And MJ does Not Handle Them (Nor does Most Other Players i found out)

I'm not sure it was wav file. I had backed up library in a folder I made in my documents. So whatever extensions MJ made is what it was.

JimH-

I tried a different approach to check soundcard. I imported all my files into windows media player to see if there was a similar problem. Unfortunatly it played them all without a hitch. One of the other programs was mixmeister that someone mentioned in another post. It also played with no apparent difficulties.

So I don't believe it would be a driver problem at this point.

the files you sent me are not media files and will not "IMPORT" they are not on the list, they are rather data files that you need to move to the media jukebox filer and replace the ones that are there if you wish.

all they are is backups of your data files.

I know what I did wrong now. I should have used library manager to restore the files. I was trying to import and that is where I ran into trouble. Just assumed I needed to import because of different location than what was default by MJ.

Either way, I did manage to just search entire harddrive and get them back that way.

KingSparta-

My server keeps timing out. Maybe some other time. But I'm pretty sure it was what you had requested. Just to big or something with this slow connection I have.
