Title: Not Responding
Post by: maid on October 11, 2013, 06:22:22 pm
I am having problems with the latest version not responding and I have to force shut down.

I have gone back to version 50 but it is still not responding.

The last thing I did was move the library to another folder then cloned the library and restored a backup.

Everything looks ok but ?????

Please help somebody.

Everything plays ok but as soon as we go to exit it stops responding and we have to force shutdown.

I suggest you create a log and send to JRiver developers. If you can repeat the problem it should be easy to catch in the log. First clean (reset) the Log to keep the log size small, then see if you can capture the error/issue.

I would try to make a backup of the library and completely uninstall/reinstall while making sure no settings are left behind. See how it works with just the default settings and empty library.

If that works, you can restore the backup, selecting only library or settings so you can determine if the problem is in the library itself or in the settings.

I believe it is best to send the log to Matt directly. He has been away to a conference but should be back now.

After reading another ticket regarding hanging I reverted back to 45 and have no more problems.

Please look at this to try and fix.

I was having hang problems odd skins and shut down problems after restarting MC.

Is there no one here to help me sort this problem or am I being ignored?

This is a serious problem

I realize this is drastic but are you able to backup the PC and try with a clean fresh install of Windows?

It's not a common problem, I don't think you're being ignored. We're just clueless I suppose.

Seems a bit drastic as this machine is home theater and does not have many programs on it

Try this as a workaround:

Instead of Shutting down windows, press ctrl-alt-delete. Then cancel or choose Task Manager. That should be sufficient if you have the same problem as I do. On my basement HTPC, this is often required to exit Theater View the past few builds. I have no idea why.

Yes continue doing this  -- a complete reinstall sounds a bit heavy to me. I think it would be a good thing to send in the log if you haven't already. Could be a registry issue.

Now, I don't understand everything in jriver logs but I looked at yours, and maybe your autoimport is hanging on something ... if you are autoimporting with analyze audio checked (which by your log looks like is the case) and it couldn't analyze the file it would maybe loop and crash ??

Ok long shot here but maybe try turning auto import off from Options=>Library and Folders. Close the program down with task manager if you have to and restart jriver... can't hurt anything to try  :P

I am having problems with analyzing the audio, I tried to do a few at a time but it said there are no files that require analysis??

Could windows update have caused this shut down hang not responding problem?

If I turn off Analyzing, hoe do I get this job done?

To fix the hang, turn off auto-import (since it's hanging analyzing the audio in a video).

Then run analyze audio manually and find the problem file.

When you find it, please provide a copy.

Thanks.

As I said I have tried Analyzing manually and it tells me there is nothing to Analyse.

If I untick skip analyzed files it puts the file in a queue.

Right.  And let it analyze until all files except the problematic one(s) have completed.  Then, you'll have found the culprit.

How to analyse Video files?

Post by: InflatableMouse on October 18, 2013, 03:06:45 am
The same way you analyze audio files.

Does not work does not do anything

I scanned the audio it seemed to finish but then they were all queued unless it is worded poorly.

Taken off Analyse audio and video.

No more hanging.
