Title: JRiver Audio Server - Mac or PC?
Post by: beaverlake on October 22, 2013, 12:14:45 pm
I am moving away from iTunes and want to use JRiver as the basis for compact, always-on, lossless-audio based server.  The server will feed a Meridian G61R either directly through a digital connection (coax preferred) or through an HDMI out to a Meridian HD621.  500GB is more than enough storage, 1TB overkill.  I might also use the server for photos displayed on a projector-based system.

My primary criteria are "simple" and "reliable" - and although I am technically savvy, I don't want to have to get into the bits and bites of setting up and running an audio server.  We are somewhat of an Apple household with 2 x iPhones, 2 x iPad Mini's, and 2 x MacBook Air (recently moved from a deskside PC).  If you were starting from scratch and the cost differential between a mini-PC + Windows and an Apple Mac Mini was not the primary driver what would you choose?

I know this is the Windows group, but thought I'd start here...

TIA,
