Details please ... I have no issues with apple lossless on 19. Is this perhaps through library server?

Both 18 and 19 can play M4A ALAC files perfectly well for me.

No problems to play Alac files in 19. I presume you are "seeing" them in your library, but need more information. I presume you can play other file types.

Try importing one Alac file manually (not autoimport) without analyzing the volume or applying tags, images and things and try playing it then.
