Title: Normalize
Post by: Marty on March 08, 2002, 07:00:55 am
MJ will normalize mp3's when burning a CD. MJ will also let me normalize an mp3 with the editor. Does anyone know of a product that will normalize a group of mp3's without intervention? Is there some way to do it with MJ without burning a CD?

i think that would require recoding..

but there is another option that they added to MJ8 "Analize Replay Gain" select file, right click, properties, tools, analize replay gain

You want to use MP3Gain.  Use it to analyze to whatever dB you want then have it update the MP3 files gain setting accordingly.  Don't be confused by this process...it is actually updating the gain setting in each MP3 frame (not just storing a Replay Gain offset setting).  Use the Album feature to maintain the gain in relation to all tracks in an album.  Or, use Radio feature to have all tracks adjusted to the same dB setting.  MP3Gain is freeware and it's pretty darn cool!!  No re-encoding of the MP3 files is done...which would be bad.
