Is there any way to hide the buttons for presets?

They're Car Radio buttons (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Car_Radio).  Try filling them in before you remove them.  It's one of the main ways I play music now.

Try a search of options.  The search window is at the bottom of the options page.
