Title: Looking for tablet advice
Post by: downsize on November 08, 2013, 03:34:15 pm
I apologize right up front. I am extremely tech challenged !  So please understand this : I do not even start to understand all of the abbreviations used on this website. I only need to know this : Are there any reasonably priced tablets I can purchase to use with JRiver with ?  The device MUST be able to connect to a USB pocket drive, and it needs a USB out to be able to go to a DAC.

Any advice you can give me, that I may can understand ?  Thanks so much.

nexus 7 / 10 supports USB OTG (with proper otg cable) which is required for USB host mode. your external storage drive and DAC however must support generic device drivers because you. do not have the luxury of installing a driver that the manufacturer/android version doesnt include out of the box.

here is a pretty comprehensive list of USB DACs that would qualify (and note that modifications may be necessary to make compatible certain combinations)

(not sure on the linking rules here, will remove if necessary)

*i am assuming you are not planning any sort of modding or rooting of the device to bypass these limitations btw
