Tulio - didn't want your gracious and comprehensive response to go without an acknowledgment. We're both on the same page. And you're right - I'd need to condominimumize my birthday cake to make room for the candles.

Harry - Thanks, but unnecessary. I knew you'd understand. I have to rely on the Pascal defense--this letter is longer than usual because I did not have the time to make it shorter. Writing briefly on complex topics is hard work--and I ducked it.
The tension between the brain and the gut can be agonizing at times. My civilized brain staunchly opposes capital punishment, and my primitive viscera wants me to personally turn every child killer into a bloody pulp.
