Title: 16 Bit Not Available In Windows Audio
Post by: parisphoto on November 13, 2013, 02:59:11 pm
My Mytek has been out of my system for about a month.
Just hooked it back up and suddenly have two problems.
# 1 - I cannot play a native 16/41 file.
Windows / Control Panel / Sound / USB PAL Properties are only 24/41000, 24/48000, 24/96000, and 24/4192,000
# 2 - If I select ASIO as the Audio Output Mode in JRiver, all of the Output Mode Settings are blank.

Device Manager shows the Mytek, (Stereo 192-DSD Dac Device) under two headings; Sound Video And Game Controllers and Unknown.
No problems are shown in Device Manager.

If I delete the Unknown listing, it automatically deletes the listing under Sound And Audio Devices.

Is it possible that I have stopped a Windows Service?
If so, any idea which service might be the culprit?

I do not have another Dac to try.
These problems did not previously exist. Windows was not updated since last used the Mytek.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled my USB driver.
There should be no reason to upgrade the USB driver or Mytek Firmware, as it worked fine before.

Current Driver  -  1.33.10.0
Current Firmware  -  69  1.7.2

The WDM driver is 24-bit only.  This is normal and good.

Thanks Matt,

I know that this is not a JRriver or hardware problem, but I don't understand why both ASIO and 16 Bit are no longer options, as they were both accessible before.
My feeling is that it's a Windows setting.
Would you have any idea what Service I may have disabled that would cause this?
