Afternoon, recently installed MC version 19.0.74 but found and issue - while importing a CD Windows seems to be either
unstable or not responding. I try to executed Outlook or Internet Explorer from the shortcut bar but with no reaction.
This only happens when performing the importing action in MC - any ideas please ?

Just a stab in the dark, but perhaps you are running low on memory?
What else is running when this happens, and how much memory is available?
What CPU & OS are you using?
-
Doubt that very much - as I believe we have a lot of resources available on this box.
System Spec. Lenovo Thinkpad W530, Core i7, 16GB, 480GB SSD, Win 7 Ult
Apps open is Outlook 2010 and Internet Explorer.
Note this only happens while ripping a CD. Note the Copy Mode is set to Secure and we're
ripping into Unc WAV format onto an external USB 3 HDD - as we did with iTunes.
Any ideas ?
-
System specs are good. :)
I usually have a lot more running without any noticeable performance hit when ripping, but I rip to FLAC.
Just as a test, rip a disk to FLAC to see if it makes any difference, and then rip to the SSD to see if there is a bottleneck on the external USB drive.
WAV files are BIG! :o

Yeah, did all those, we even tried a different ext us3 hdd and NAS - same issue.
After the rip with MC open or closed the machine runs smooth - its only during the ripping process.
Funny issue this maybe the big guys at MC - JimH or Matt can shed some light on this, please guys. ?

This isn't normal, and I'm not sure what it might be.
Ripping with an i7 using an SSD should be really smooth. I have seen cases where a scratched CD could cause the whole system to seem a little sluggish when first inserted. Maybe some CD drives can do that during an entire rip?
As a test, what if you rip in normal mode instead of secure mode and write the data to C:\? Also, does it change with different CDs?

Tx Matt I am testing and will advise outcome.
