Title: All bands whose name starts with the word "The" are in the T's
Post by: seric56 on November 23, 2013, 11:15:47 am
Is there a way to ask the search to ignore the first word "the" when listing artists? In my liberary the Beatles are not in B but in T, the Zombies are not in Z but in T, the Doors are not in D...
I can't be the only one with this problem, or did I miss an obvious set up choice?

Thanks!

In the Widows version under "Options > Tree & View > Sorting" there is an "Ignore articles" checkbox to do this. i am not sure if it there on the Mac version.. Have a look.

I have been learning recently and continually refining my library in MC for Mac. I saw this "ignore" but haven't yet tried it. Does it simply ignore the articles or does it rewrite the tags i.e. The Beatles becomes Beatles, The.  If it simply ignores them without changing the tags that great.

It just simply ignores them.. No changes to the tags... The Beatles will still be The Beatles, just under the Bs. It will show "The Beatles" there too, but alphabetized under Beatles.
