I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, I have set MC (19.0.82) to run media server at startup (Options> Startup> Run on windows startup: Media Server).
Since I upgrade to win 8.1 (clean install, but MC library recovered from backup) I noticed that media server does not run at startup. (I don't know if it is win 8.1 or something else causing this issue)
In task manager > startup I have Media center 19 on the list, and it's enabled, but media server doesn't run (or maybe does run, but it crash). If I run MC then Media server is loaded and everything runs ok, but it is annoying that if I don't run MC at least once I can't access my library with JRemote. I also tried to put a shortcut in the startup folder but does not work either.
How can I find out what is going on in my system??
Thank you!

The first thing I would try is to disable this option, and then re-enable it.
It's definitely not an issue with Windows 8.1, as it works on my system.

I already tried to enable/disable it, what else can you advice me??
