Title: I can't restore MC16 before upgrading to MC19
Post by: samwisesam on November 28, 2013, 01:25:05 pm
HELP. I had to revert my laptop back to last partition due to a problem and wiped out most of my software. I am trying to restore my MC16 version but Windows 7 does not recognise the file type .mjr. I have tried opening and downloading the file in IE and in Windows Explorer. But the file isn't an .exe file so doesn't do anything. I am without JRiver and it's killing me. Can anyone advise?

thanks Jamie

Not sure where you are at in the process. The .mjr file is your registration for the software. Have you installed MC16? You will need to get a new license file(.mjr) to re-regisister the program.

Here is a link to old versions:

and here is a link to license recovery:

I think I am confused. MC16 along with most other software was wiped from my computer. Ihave gone the restore site and its given me the .mjr file but thats as far as I've got?

You will need to download and install MC16, then use the restore file to restore your license...

Here is the link for the MC16 program install file:

oops! thanks for that. Now I've downloaded it do I need to do anything else with the mjr file? Or have I actually done the install the wrong way around e.g. I should have got the re-register after I'd downloaded 16 again?

cheers

Once it is install you should be able to double click your new mjr file and that will register it and remove the 30 day trial message.

Great!!!

The mjr file is only your license. Once you have Media Center installed, it will recognize the mjr file and register your copy.

I think mjr files are valid for a week or so after requesting a restore.

The mjr file is the Install Key.  It's good for 14 days.
