I'm trying to clean up my library a bit, and make things easier to find.
Rather than using a flat file list sorted by name, I thought it would be nice to use the "categories" view with FirstNotEmpty([Series],[Name]) as an expression.
This displays items as you would expect - films are sorted by name unless they are part of a series, which groups them together.
This is particularly useful when the titles of these films would not place them together when sorted by name - "James Bond" as a group would be an example of that.
The problem is that when you double-click on a film, it brings up the file list even when there is only a single item.
Is there any way to change this behavior so that double-clicking individual items will play them?

This won't help at all with your core request, but I'm curious... Why are you using FirstNotEmpty([Series],[Name]) instead of TVInfo(SeriesDisplay)?
For the record, I think this would be a useful change. If you double-click on a Category that only contains a single file, it could certainly treat that as a double click on the file itself.

I wasn't aware that it existed, and it didn't occur to me to check the "TVInfo" section (last thing on the wiki page) when I was making an expression for films. I assume that would be faster?

No idea. It might be smarter though. Not sure.
