hello I purchased JRiver recently and had to delete and download it again, unfortunately when I go to install I keep getting error message "Media center was installed for a different operating system" I am using windows 7. can anyone help me?

Please try disabling any compatibility modes (right-click the shortcut).

as soon as the install wizard is done I get the message "media center was installed for a different operating system. please re install media center" I have deleted and reinstall a few times get the same message

Right-click the shortcut and make sure no compatibility mode is enabled.
Also, disable any security software that might be trying to help.

thank you for the help Matt, but I dont know how to disable both the compatibility and security software... I have windows fire wall and Malwarebytes.

Something is causing MC (either the installer or the installed program) to run in compatibility mode. This causes the OS reported by the system to not match between the installer and the MC program. This is bad.
You can right-click > Properties a shortcut to configure compatibility modes:

It's possible this is Malwarebytes causing trouble. To test, you could disable or uninstall it.
