Title: How to make columns preset sticky?
Post by: thm655321 on December 14, 2013, 12:58:22 am
Did a search but did not find the answer.

I have a preset for how I like my columns.  I have not found a way to make that sticky.  Every time I reload my library (which I do often as I am retagging things a lot) I have to choose my saved preset for each view.

Is there no way to tell MC19 to just use my preset all the time?

Thanks in advance.

This shouldn't happen unless a view is locked.  Right click on the View in question and choose Customize View.  Then, check on the right hand side under:

Settings > Advanced > Lock View

If this is checked, then no changes you make "on the fly" to the view will be saved.  If not, when you navigate away from the view, it will ask you to confirm saving the changes.  Say yes, and it will stick.

Thanks.  They were all locked by default and I have unlocked them.

That all seems a bit hidden and IMO the opposite of the way it should work, so perhaps MC19 could be changed so that the views are unlocked by default.

One other thing.  When I clear my library I always have to uncheck the box about resetting the database to default.  If I don't do that then all my custom library fields disappear.  Can that be changed so that the box is unchecked by default?

Thanks.

I just cleared my library and restarted JR19 and all my views are again locked even though I unlocked them.  Any solution for that?

Thanks.

Might be handy if it behaved like the View Schemes do, asking when you leave the view if you wish to keep the changes you made.
Best of both worlds?
