I am new to J River 19 (tested v14 and stayed at Foobar).
However now I am seriously consider to buy J River because of DSD.
There is however for me a strange behavior that I cannot explain.
I use a free VST called ReLife. www.terrywest.nl/utils.html (http://www.terrywest.nl/utils.html)
It tries to bring back life to a heavy clipped audiofile.
The VST is working great when I play music, so I consider it CAN work.
When I try to convert music however, I can select the VST, but it does nothing.
In Foobar2000 it works when I convert to another format.
Can somebody help me, because I am lost now.
Thank you all in advance for helping me.

I don't think VST's currently work when trying to use Convert Format.
The Relife VST has been shown (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=80679) to be a simple all pass filter that changes phase. It doesn't do anything to the clipped waveform.

Then at least I don't have to search any further. :)
I have read the forum as you suggested.
I sincerely hope that there will be a solution to somehow restore, at least some, of the original quality of the recording.
At lot of modern music is so destroyed by the mixers, it makes me wanne cry. :'(

iZotope can work well for clipped tracks (using the offline RX editor, rather than a VST plugin) but I've yet to hear any VSTs I could leave enabled all the time for compressed tracks.
The best solution is still to try and find a better source for the recording if at all possible.
Unfortunately, I know that's frequently not possible, and I don't really have a solution for it.
