Title: Import Files "Previously determined to be Bad" [Solved]

Hi,

I am having a problem importing an album.  I am getting an error telling me that the files can't be imported because they were previously determine to be bad.  The problem is, they aren't bad.  I also have MC for Windows and it imported the files and plays them just fine (so does iTunes, Rythmbox and other Linux music players).  I have been doing extensive searching and I believe that the problem is that the files were incorrectly tagged as bad.

How can I clear the bad items list so I can try importing them again?  Based upon the number of times this topic has been brought up IMO this should be a menu item.

EDIT:  Thought about this some more and and realized that the file type is different than my other music files.  They are m4p files that I downloaded directly from iTunes. Could that be the reason the Linux version is tagging them as bad?

M4P are songs purchased from the itunes store and therefore are protected (compared with M4A which are an "open" codec). These can only be played in itunes.
I have had MC19 for linux fail to import "good" m4a's but converting them to flacs allowed them to be imported.
I've also had cue files ignored, not always.

They can be played in MC if Quicktime is installed, but QT is probably not available on Linux.

That explains why MC for Windows can play them.  I don't know if QT is available for Linux or not, I suspect you are correct that it isn't, but I will check it out.  However, it seems to me that if other Linux music players can play the songs then MC should be able to do it.

AAC m4a's perhaps, but Apple Lossless m4a's import fine for me on Linux.

Problem Solved - sort of

The posts about different file formats got me thinking so I tried converting the files.  The only way I found that worked was to use iTunes to convert the files to Apple Lossless (ALAC).  Moved the new files into a different folder and imported the files without a problem.
