Title: JRiver : view of the latest imported Albums
Post by: Patatorz on January 03, 2014, 11:45:58 am
Hello, I use JRiver 19 to read music on a NAS where 2 servers are installed (the one from Synology and Minimserver 0.8.1). My library is on the NAS and I select it through the server (Syno or Minimserver). I push the music to my network players (Lumin or Ayon).

Everything is fine but I would like to have a view with a rule that displays the albums imported or created in the last 4 weeks for example. So I've been to the "recent album" view in "Audio", clicked on personnalized and tried so created a rule based on importation date.

The problem is that with both servers, JRiver is looking for the files fitting with the rule but it never find any album...

Did i make a mistake in the way I select the rule ? Is it possible with library and servers on a NAS ?

Best regards

maybe you could past the rule you use to see if there is something wrong. (click on import\export and copy)
in principle the rule is simple sort by date imported (z-a) and limit time to 4 weeks (and for some weird case files add expand to full album.

Sorry for the late answer.

Please find the rule I created :

Thanks for your feedback

It does not change anything if I put date created or date of modification etc...

Try using the "Date imported" field in the rule.

I tried but no change.

My library is coming from a server and is not in a local directory :

...

Is this server a file server (NAS) or is it a DLNA server?

If it is just a file server, then the date imported field should work to display only recently imported albums.

I'd add a column with the "Date imported" field to an view where you see the recently imported albums that you expect to see.  See whether there are any albums with a date imported value that is within 4 weeks.

Those would be DLNA servers.  Don't use those.  Instead, select Main Library, and import the files by path into MC.  MC won't move the files, but will build its library to reference the files on the NAS.

Thanks for the advise. Clearly importing in the main library solved the problem.

last question, making this import, does it means that the library is updated in background when I add files on the NAS or should I need start something.

So long as you have auto-import pointed to the music folder on the NAS, it should.  If the NAS has file system event notifications working, then updates will be nearly immediate.  Otherwise it can take several minutes before MC sees changes.  There are some reports of some NAS where updates are not noticed, so users can run a manual Import Now.
