Title: Setting compilation playback to track number
Post by: kristian on January 03, 2014, 05:00:23 pm
Hi,
J River does not appear to do the only logical thing and play back compilation albums in track order, but, by artist. I want compilations to play by track number, always. How to do?

Thanks-

Playback order is based on how the view is setup, and by default, the view would order based on Disc # and Track # first.  How is your view configured?  What values are in Disc # and Track #?

Hi,
thanks for your response, and sorry for my late reply. Since MC 15, the default setting has never played compilations by track number, but always alphabetically by artist name. I want it to do what you suggest; how should I arrange the view?
Thanks!

I don't think this is correct, strictly speaking.  The default, when files are tagged correctly, will playback tracks in Disc / Track order, for a given Album.

Check your Disc # and Track # tags.  Select the files for a single disc of an album.  Open the Tag Action Window, and examine the Disc # field.  If the value says [Varies], change the value to a single value.  For single disc albums, clear the value.  For multiple disc albums, set the appropriate disc # (do this for each disc in the album).

If this still doesn't fix your issue, you might need to share some screenshots.
