Title: any way to count song frequency in playlists?
Post by: synecdoche on January 06, 2014, 10:07:35 pm
I have several hundred custom playlists. Is there any easy way to list the number of times songs occur in these playlists?

Thanks
Brian

The best you can do internally is to add a Playlists column to one of your Playlist group views.  All songs from contained playlists will be included, and the Playlists column will show which playlist(s) each song is in.

Otherwise, you'd have to export your playlists (which you can do in one shot) and use an external program/script to tally them.

I came up with a way to accomplish this if you want.  It requires running a script to copy the Playlists field (which is available as a File List column) to your own Playlists field which can be used in any view.  With this, you can list your tracks along with a count of the number of times a track is in the playlist, as well as list all your playlists in a My Playlists column.  The results are pretty cool.

Ask if you want to use it.
