Title: Media network Windows and MAC
Post by: Martijn Visscher on January 09, 2014, 02:42:15 pm
Hi All,

Currently I use JR on my W7 laptop to my full satisfaction. To bring my Audio to a next level, my hifi dealer recommends using a Mac Mini as drive for my Dac, since MAC offers a far better / cleaner digital signal.  I Currently don’t have any knowledge of MAC however. Some  questions:
1.   Can I deploy 3 machines using the same media collection, from which one is a MAC mini?
2.   Can I set the Mac machine as media server?
3.   I want to be able to start the Mac from my both Pc’s, will this be possible?
a.   (I am awere of the remote apps on android).
(directing me  to the proper threads would be very helpful)..

@ Jim: do I get a discount on the extra licence I will have to purchase :)

Thanks so much,

Regards,

Martijn Visscher

Or you could just save yourself the hassle and start going to a hifi dealer that doesn't try to sell you snake oil.

I think a mac mini sounds also much better. it runs so much hotter than the normal macs and windows machines, and you can hear that, especially when pushed to its limit. when the 1s and 0s are glowing hot.

Your hifi dealer is wrong about this.
