MC freezes/stops responding when playing some MP4 video files.
This happens on my Notebook "ASUS ZENBOOK UX31A" that has "Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000", with Win 7 64bit.
I have tried the following:
> Updated video drivers
> Updated BIOS
> The latest version of MC (19.0.103), also tried with an older version 19.0.100
> Uninstalled/Reinstalled MC
> Tried different video settings, Red October Standard/HQ and Windows Merit based.
> Different Audio settings, Direct Sound/Wasapi.
The videofiles play without any problems on my Desktop computer.

I seriously have no clue what could be causing these problems, any ideas? Note also that all MP4 files play fine on this computer on other players like VLC and MPC-HC.

Antivirus?
Also take a look at Hendrik's recent posts. A day or two ago.

I checked all the "Intel HD Graphics Control Panel" settings that were suggested in the thread you linked to. As for Antivirus I'm using Microsofts Security Essentials, tried uninstalling it.
Also I have tried
- disabling hardware acceleration
- Video clock.
- I "forced" installing the generic HD4000 drivers from Intel.
- Uninstalled Intels HD4000 drivers completely, and tried with Microsofts provided with Windows.
- Enabled/disabled Aero
- I tried updating various other drivers, Intel WIDI, Realtek audio, WIFI,
I still suspect the problem is still Intel graphics drivers, but then again why does some MP4 play fine while others make MC crash.
I also looked at the debug log, but can't really tell from it what went wrong (attached the last part of it).

Are you sure the file plays on other machines properly?
-
I just realized something! :), the problem occurs only when streaming "Library Server > Client"
If I copy the file directly to my Notebook and play it in MC, the videos play without problems. Also if I navigate to the network share (on the Server) and play the video from there, no problems.
-
We've seen a couple more reports of MP4 files not playing properly when streaming over the network.
I'll try to reproduce the issue next week.
-
The good news is that i can reproduce the problem.
Lets see what i can find.

That's good to hear, keep up the good work :)

In an upcoming build:
Fixed: MP4 files would hang when played on a Library Server Client without direct file access.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
-
This should be fixed in 19.0.108, available here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=86848.msg594119#msg594119

Thanks!, confirmed the new version works fine :)
