Title: Track order
Post by: rinoatomy on January 15, 2014, 05:22:35 am
When I select ARTIST view, search for a band and click on "albums" to show all the albums by that band, clicking on files shows tracks in wrong order (for certain albums, not all). I have set rules for file display as: ARTIST - ALBUM - BIT DEPTH - DISC.

On the ALBUMS pane, none of this happen.

Any insight?

In rules for the view I would add a sort order like this AlbumArtist - Album - Trk#  (or Artist - Album - Trk#) you can add bit depth etc too. I think you want to sort first by Disc then by track but this depends whether you split the album names by disc or not. I always combine multi-disc albums to one album name, but not everyone does/want to.

OR you could simply choose a sort order from the tab on the top of the view. I like doing this less, but it will work too (choose custom)

The sort order for the categories shown is not controlled by Set rules for file display.  Rather, it is controlled by the category's Sorting settings.  Select the category when you customize the view, and Edit.  Then, change the Settings > Sorting setting.

If you don't see a Sorting you want, you need to create your own custom sort Preset.  See:

That's strange Mr C. Works for me in Standard Mode at least ... wonder why?

Are you talking about the Categories or Panes, or the Groupings?

Sorting is MC is a little too complicated, and there are some curious magic defaults and changes that can occur.
