Is it possible to upsample Monkey's Audio encoded music to 24/96 in real-time using MJ on an Audigy??
TIA,
~Matthias

It would be possible, but useless. There's no quality gain and doing so on an Audigy would be bad (as it resamples everything back to 16 bit/48 khz... despite what Creative Labs says, it's not a "real" 24/96 card).

Well, it doesn't hurt to playback at 24-bit if your card supports it. Just pick "Optioms-> Playback-> Playback Bitdepth" to change what bitdepth MJ plays at.
Also, I think upsampling / oversampling is probably best left to your DAC. I'm not an expert on that though...
Take care.

OK...I haven't bought the Audigy yet...so I will switch to an M-Audiophile 24/96 card.
Now, to my knowledge, if I play a 16/44.4 signal, the DAC on the 24/96 card will pass it along, without "dithering" the waveform...but that's what I want...I want to have the waveform smoothed out, because there are receivers that do it, and everyone says that there is a noticable difference in quality. So, will MJ "dither" the signal?
Thanks,
~Matthias

CD's have already has been dithered when they were converted to 16-bit at the mastering studio.
I'm not really sure that more dithering (which is basically the addition of noise to add smoothness) will make the audio quality any better.
Also, wouldn't a DAC naturally dither the signal based on it's own noise floor?
From my experience, the soundcard isn't typically the weakest link in a stereo. Your money may be better spent on a better amp or set of speakers. Just my opinion though...
Take care.

I do have good speakers, and a good receiver.
-Denon AVR 1602
-Home Theater Direct Level 2 5.1
To my knowledge, the soundcard does not dither...it just is able to pass up to 24/96 through its DACs.

It does, indeed

I have several wav files (ripped from CD using EAC) that I have converted to 24/88.2 using Sonic Foundry Batch Converter. Will Media Jukebox playback these files? If so, how?
Thanks. . . .

K-Wood if your sound card is capable of this sample rate and bit depth and has direct sound drivers then I would exspect MJ to play back ok.
What Card are you using?
