Title: Can MC19 "watch" specific folders and auto-add media to the library?
Post by: mykillk on January 20, 2014, 04:32:09 pm
Now that I've started using the library features, one thing I haven't been able to figure out is whether MC19 can watch folders for new files and automatically add them to library.

Auto-Import.  Tools > Import > Configure Auto-Import.  Add your path.

It seems like to me though you have to run the auto-important manually each time you want to pick up new files. Maybe I am mistaken though. Does it watch those folders in the background and pick up new files automatically?

It DOES watch those folders in the background for folder and file changes.  It uses both filesystem change notification events, and a timer for periodic scanning for those systems that don't support events.

Just drop your files there and be patient.

Ok, it's just a bit confusing because the "Run Auto-Import Now" option in the Import dialog box implies that you have to run it manually and it doesn't run in the background automatically. But now that I think about it there is an option in the menu about auto-import running in the background.
