I am only getting 5.1 from my 7.1 Emotiva UMC 200 pre/pro. All my 7.1 Blu Rays are only outputting 5.1. I am getting 7.1 with TMT. I thought if I had audio set to bitstream in JRiver MC19 the 7.1 audio would be decoded by the pre/pro. Anyone know what I can do to get JRiver MC19 to bitstream?

Click on the 3-bar equalizer icon in the upper right to open the Audio Path. What does MC say is the input and output number of channels?
-
I checked and it says Input: 192KHZ 16bit 8ch from source DTS Changes: No changes being made.
Does this mean I am getting 7.1? The stream still only shows 5.1 with no 7.1 choice.
Thanks for the help.

8ch is 7.1, so yes.
-
Thanks very much. I am new at this.

I tried playing 2 movies that I know are DTS Ma 5.1 and the audio path still shows 8ch from source format DTS. Why would that be if these are 5.1 movies?
-
I am now bitstreaming 5.1 DTS MA. My pre/pro shows 3+2+Lfe. MC audio path says 8ch, on all 5.1 movies. I understand that there is a labeling problem with the stream issue showing 5.1 DTS MA when 7.1 is played, but why the discrepancy between the audio path and my pre/pro? Shouldn't the audio path say 6ch for source format DTS if a 5.1 DTS MA movie is played?

I think if MC is configured for 8 channels (7.1) and a 6 channel source (5.1) is played, it still outputs the 8 channels of which the 2 extra channels are silence. So you're getting 5.1 but with 2 silent channels.

Ok, I see, sounds reasonable.
Thanks

If you are actually bitstreaming, then the audio path will not show useful information.
The audio will be passed untouched over HDMI, so MC technically doesn't even know (or need to know) how many channels it has.
The audio path should probably reflect that you are bitstreaming, and not show misleading information.

I did enable the bitstreaming option. Are you saying that the program should be improved to show the correct info in the audio path, or am I doing something wrong that could be causing the info to be incorrect?
