Title: Services: is Vimeo possible?
Post by: audioriver on January 23, 2014, 04:05:12 pm
Is it possible to view Vimeo videos inside the player, as is the case with YouTube? Lots of great videos there.

Why not use the browser capability of MC?

You could load up the URL and test the software's capability.

You should get your answer pretty quick.. ;)

That was my thought but for the life of me, I was never able to find a URL bar in MC... only search engines for the installed services. Any pointers?

You can get to the Vimeo web site via a Link (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=83371.0) in MC. However, it doesn't appear that the videos wlil play in MC.

Thanks. File/Open URL doesn't work, it just opens the link in my browser.

The Link method seems a bit daunting. I'd try it, but you say it doesn't work anyway?

Manage Links is easy. Just right-click any link and Manage Links. Copy this:

Vimeo

0

http://vimeo.com/watch

http:////vimeo.com//watch

and use the Paste Link ... button.

Thanks MrC! If I'm not mistaken though, the videos are just reproduced by the browser inside MC, it's not MC that's playing the videos (with all the audio/video advantages) like YouTube ones.

The limitation of these embedded videos is that the rely on certain IE activeX controls, such as Flash, for playback. These controls are not implemented in the embedded browser component used by MC.
