Title: Gizmo Remote App for a Kindle Fire HDX
Post by: Steelydanfan on January 24, 2014, 01:17:24 pm
Hi, new JR River user here, running JR River 19 from a dedicated laptop/music server to a whole house background  music only stereo system.

All is well  on the music  front, I would like to implement a tablet based remote for JR, specifically a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" screen, which is a very good heavily modified Android platform.

My question: Will a Gizmo Android app work on the Kindle Fire HDX ?

^

Why not just try it?

And if it does not work, then there is a browser based app called Web Gizmo that should surely work -- that is so long as your tablet does have a browser on it...

AndrewFG, I went into the settings on the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" to allow "apps from other sources," translated thusly: "not from Amazon app store."

It works great ! The Kindle Fire HDX ( newest model) is very capable and the screen is as good as the ipad retina, so the Gizmo display is first class.

The Dolby Digital stereo sound from the Kindle Fire is first class, I can play on it from JRiver or use the Kindle as the remote.

It works, and very well !

Thanks for the nudge, AndrewFG ! ;D
