Try disabling Event Style output, or manually setting the bit-depth.

Nothing .Only static noise.

There is no known problem with WASAPI. Make sure some other program isn't set to Exclusive Mode.
Try testing sound output from control panel. You might learn something.
Wasapi hardware conection direct mode
What is "direct mode"?

Hi dii340,
May I know how you solved your problem?
I am having the same exact issue.
I've gone to VIA's website but they do not provide the driver for my HD Codec VT1802S.
[And checking my vendor's website, I have the latest and only driver]
I've been forced to downgrade my audio option to DirectSound for now otherwise it's just really loud noise when playing any files.

WASAPI has two modes. In MC settings try both. Event style on or off.

Set in Control panel /Sound bitdepth 24 bit -192.000 kHz and in JRiver leave Wasapi Exclusive mode , but manual set bitdepth 24 bit (in a 32 bit package).

I have a compouter with both coax and optical ouput and got somewhat same issues after I installed and uninstalled a via usb driver that I no longer want to use and go back to coax (s/pdif). Loud static white noise in asio in jriver 19. Wasapi wouldnt play the files, didnt suport the playback the message said directing med to settings but I have . Have tried reistall audio device, Have reinstalled jriver 19, cleaned register, Have reinstalled asio and jriver, but still same. Direct mode works though. I havent tried the instructions above, Ill try em tomorrow.
The via is unit still in the audio output option, it should have been gone after I uninstalled the usb driver..

"manual set bitdepth 24 bit (in a 32 bit package)" seems to have fixed the issue for wasapi. ;D
Now, how do I get asio fixed...
