Hi,
Is there a fix for LTR subtitles?
When using a left to right subtitles (I'm using Hebrew), the punctuation is shown on the wrong side.
Cheers!
-
I think I saw this before on the forum somewhere.
Do you have example subtitles we could use to reproduce the problem?
-
You are right. It's a problem for all right to left languages (i.e. Hebrew, Arabic, etc.).
What kind of subtitle file do you need? Will a Hebrew srt file will do the job?
-
Anything that shows the issue will do. SRT is fine.
-
I'm sorry for the delay.
I attached a SRT file
-
Hm, the file is encoded using the ANSI Hebrew encoding. I cannot read it like this, because my Windows is not running on Hebrew, so I converted it to UTF-8, and it appears the punctuation is correct now. It is supposed to be on the left side, right? :)
I assume your whole Windows is set to Hebrew? Otherwise the file would probably not work properly.
I've attached the file converted to UTF-8. Nothing changed on the content itself, only the encoding from ANSI to UTF-8.
Since I cannot read the text, its really hard to judge if its right or not.
Anyway, can you check the converted file to make sure it'll still actually reproduce the issue?
Maybe you can also peek into the file to make sure its actually correct in the file, and not a problem from whoever created it?

I'll try it.
I don't like the Hebrew version of windows. I prefer to use the English version with Hebrew support.
Anyway, I'll let you know (I believe that changing the encoding will mess up the fonts...)
Thank you for your efforts!

I tried it. It didn't do anything...
I attached two photos. The first was played with JRiver MC19, and it's called "wrong".
The second was played with VLC on a different PC, and it's called "right".
This way, although you can't read Hebrew (it's never to late to start ;)), you will be able to see the differences in the punctuation.
Please remember, you start from the right and go to the left ;D

Interesting. So only some of it is wrong, while one of the periods at the end of the lines are indeed correct.
I'll check it out again.

Any updates? New insights?
-
I did figure out what the problem is, but I'm not sure how to fix it yet. But I'm on it, a solution should be in an upcoming build.
-
Yipikaye! Great news!
I'm waiting for the next update:-)
Thank you

In an upcoming build:
Fixed: Punctuation or Numbers could draw in the wrong position in Right-to-Left scripts like Hebrew or Arabic.

It's Fixed!!! ;D

Thanks for your patience and your help.
