Title: Exporting playlist to WMC
Post by: boydn on February 06, 2014, 07:31:35 pm
I'm trying to export some of my playlist to use in WMC.
Right click on the playlist export to .mpl target folder user/my music/playlist.
Nothing shows up under playlist in WMC.  Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks

MPL is a JRiver Media Center Playlist format.  Try one of the other formats.

Thanks, I'll play around with it some more.  My message should have said .WPL which is WMC native format, it should also play .ASX but, I tired exporting to both formats and no joy.
Thanks for the input.

I played with this a little more over the weekend.
Same result.  .WPL don't show up in WMC and the .ASX show up but, won't play and when you edit the filenames are all "GETFILE".
Any idea how to export my playlists?
Thanks

Did you try M3U?

I've tried .MPL, .ASX, both M3U and get the same thing.
I've tried exporting from the server and the client that WMC is running on and they either don't show up in WMC or won't play back.
If I edit this is what shows "G:\Multimedia\Music Library\3 Doors Down\The Better Life\3 Doors Down-Kryptonite.wma" which is the path to the file.
Not sure where to go from here.

I'll give that a shot.  Thanks
As to why WMC, it works VERY well as a DVR and it supported my Ceton tuner so, it I use.
Thanks again

Thanks TAO1857, your way works.  Kinda cludgy but, getting the job done.
I just wish since the option is there in MC that I could get it to work.  Would be much easier.
Thanks again to all.

Have you tried any M3U to WPL converters?

So, you're saying to export to M3U then convert to WPL?

Have you tried any M3U to WPL converters?

Sure.  You can export all your playlists in one shot to M3U format.

So would it be worth supporting WPL playlists in MC? Shouldn't be too hard to do.

This is the first request I've ever seen regarding this.  If it's easy, seems reasonable.

WPL would be great.  I've set up an Xbox as an extender and .WPL would allow me to shut down one computer.  Not much listening in that room so playlist on the xbox would be fine.  One step conversion would be GREAT!
Thanks for all the help!

In the next build:
NEW: Support for exporting playlists in the Windows Media Player Playlist format (WPL Playlist).

I tested exporting a playlist like this, and placed it in the "Music" folder (ie. C:\Users\Hendrik\Music, the folder WMP monitors), and it instantly showed up in WMP and played music just fine.
I suppose it additionally may make sense for MC to be able to read such playlists, but maybe another day.
