If this has been posted, could someone direct me there? I am using Mavericks and have installed the Exasound drivers for it. Otherwise, I cannot determine the settings for my E28, other than choosing it. I am playing 5.1 DSD files ripped from my SACD's. I have it working on A+, but not JRMC19.
Here is what I have done:
Created a second Zone for my E28 (Zone 1 is for my 2 channel system with a BADA2 which is working great).
Under Tools - Options chose my E28 (Core Audio)
Device Settings: Open Device with Exclusive Access, Not choosing integer mode
Buffering what is recommended
Channel Offset - 0
DSP and Output Format
Output Encoding - None Channels 5.1
Sample Rates no changes, Mixing No Up or Down MIxing
BitStream - None
I really haven't a clue to what I should be setting here.
Thanks, Larry

I have the same set up and have 2 zones working quite happily on JRiver.
Perhaps the easiest way is for you to PM me and I'll send you a backup copy of my library, which will have all the settings for a 2nd multichannel zone. all you need to do is load the backup library and you'll be able to copy down all the settings I have. None of it will work of course as it will point to my hard disks.
All you need do is then reload your library and make the necessary changes.
For a start you need to set bit streaming to DSD and don't forget to use zone switch to automatically switch from zone 1 to zone 2 depending on the type of file being played.

OK. Here's a new one. I can play 5.1 DSD (DFF, DSF, ISO) just fine. I can play multichannel 24/96 PCM/FLAC just fine.
However, if I have MC DSP output any of the DSD formats as 24/96 PCM, the surround right channel is lost and silent.
Any thoughts?

Fix: Do not use "Same Channels as Source" with sources that vary from 5.1 - 5.0 - 4.0 as inappropriate remapping occurs. Use 5.1 setting.
