Title: Party Mode : Can you Sync Playback across multiple MC / Gizmo
Post by: jmone on March 01, 2014, 04:47:42 am
On a single home Network, can your coordinate multiple MC's so they play the same content at once (in sync)?  In particular, can I have:
- Gizmo Controlling the playback
- Video coming out of the PJ (no sound) from one MC running TheaterView controlled by Gizmo (it will be on a big outside screen) but the
- Audio coming out of 2 other MC or Gizmo Instances feeding two separate Amps?

I've tried "linking" the MC instances in Playing Now but that only supports "Audio", if you try to play say a Music Video MC unlinks them.

I've got a 16th and 18th coming up!

Thanks
Nathan

PS - My other option is to just run Wireless / Wired Audio from the PJ/MC instance controlled by Gizmo to the amps/speakers

Yes, you can, but only with Audio.

You are correct that (and it is annoying (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=84061.msg576600#msg576600)) you cannot link zones and play video.  I think the problem is that the sync would go down the drain, but...  I don't know, in most cases where I want this, I'm really not that concerned about perfect or close-to-perfect sync.  But it would get annoying if repeated mix-ins of video would cause it to drift further and further out of sync throughout a playlist, I suppose.

Yes - same scenario as per your post in that that thread.  The other thought was routing the audio that is playing from MC back into that MC instance that could then be played again on another zone and linked..... I just re-read that. ::)  Think I'll get a wireless sender.
