Title: Media Center for Linux
Post by: maeschba on March 04, 2014, 02:21:28 am
Hello,

I'm running Manjaro and tried to manually install Media Center 19 - without success and without spending much time. It seems to be at least the version of libcurl-3 which differs from the one required. As a workaround, I installed VirtualBox and Debian as a Guest, just to see Media Center in action.

Since Media Center is closed source, I ask myself if it wouldn't be wiser to provide distribution independent zip downloads for 32-bit and 64-bit Linux' (like game developers do). Libraries could be statically linked, except for basic requirements (X, audio subsystem, etc.).

Some of the libraries can't be statically link and curl is very complicated since it uses the ssl libraries, certs ,etc on the system.
