Historically, Analyze would fail when it hit a patch of bad files, but maybe it depends on how many threads are being run? I wish it would just continue, and add the details to the report at the end (e.g. 3,567 File successfully analyzed | 25 Failed analysis), the way we get a report at the end of Import.

Can you maybe share a file which hangs the analysis for you?
I would like to have a look at whats exactly happening here.

I will get hold of the flac file. It is a single flac/cue file for the whole album, but only track 1 causes the issue (fails to play as well). Deleting just the one track from the library doesnt work. It still tries to analyse on the next import.
-
Weird, I can import, analyse and play all the tracks from your file.
-
I tried again with the flac file I sent by playing directly via Windows Explorer, which ignores the cue file and plays as one track. It gets to about 20 secs into the file and stops with buffering... message (playing from a local hard drive). With the imported flac/cue file into the library , I can run a manual Library Tools->Analyse Audio on track 2 onwards and play track 2+ without an issue. Running MC v.118.
I was able to load the flac file into Audacity without an error.
It has done the same thing on 2 separate machines. One is a regular desktop Win7 x64 with virus scan, fw, etc and the other is barebones win7 x64 with no virus scan or firewall enabled.

Weird, I can definitely play the file without any issues. Tried the same without CUE, and it plays all the way through.
I wonder whats up with that...
I'm on Windows 8.1 though, I'll try on Windows 7 tomorrow - even though it would really puzzle me if that was the cause.
-
It is definitely something that is specific to MC - it will play the track as up to 3:02 mark then stop with buffering... message. It stops with an Auto Import Analyzing Audio or a Library Tools->Analyzing Audio (stops at 86%) on the particular track. The same flac file plays fine in Audacity (seek as well) and VLC using the cue file (also seeks fine).
:edited with play mark
-
So you can actually play the entire file, as long as you don't try to seek?

Up to the 3:02 mark, then stops with buffering... message. Plays right through with Audacity & VLC.

When you go to the options under Audio -> Advanced -> Configure input plug-in -> FLAC
Do you have "Decode through errors" checked?
It should be default on, and should make the decoder just ignore errors. I can see that the stream triggers errors, but when the option is on, it seems to skip through them without breaking down (I cannot even hear any glitches)
-
The decode through errors fixed the Analyze audio issue & plays right through, but I have found another issue with the seek bar - it will jump to the next track instead of seek once you move past the ~50% mark even though it shows the correct duration for the track. It does this with the 4 x flac/cue rips from this artist. I have other flac/cue rips that work fine - I cannot see any differences in the cue file layouts between them.
-
Might be related to the decoding issue it encounters. I'll check.
Regarding the original issue, at least I can turn the option off and see why the auto import hangs, it should fail gracefully, not hang.
I wonder what its supposed to do on playback errors without the option. Hang on "Buffering" seems bad, skip to the next track I suppose?
-
Seeking seems fine in the CUE/FLAC you send me. Except for the first track when the option is turned off, but when its set to ignore errors, it also seeks fine for me.
-
I will give it another try after restarting MC.

Just tried the seek bar again after updating to v.120 and still have the same issue. ?
