Title: Removing Tags (oops)
Post by: Matt on February 21, 2002, 04:21:39 am
I accidently erased the "remove tags" thread. (it's too early when I think "Remove" says "Reply")

Anyway, I wanted to say that MJ 8 can remove tags.  File Properties -> Tools -> Remove Tags

If it doesn't do the job properly (and it should), let us know and we'll fix it.

Thanks and sorry for the deletion.

I'd be very interested in seeing Remove Tags be able to remove v1 tags, v2 tags, or both. More specifically, I'd like to see the tag-oriented functions of Media Jukebox to be ID3version-specific. In effect making all: CREATE, REMOVE, & UPDATE tag functions configurable to work with (1) v1 only, (2) v2 only, (3) both v1 & v2 tags.

My interest is that I have a large library that is cleanly tagged using ID3v2 tags (no v1 tags are used).  If I update a tag in Media Jukebox, it updates the v2 tag and CREATES A V1 tag to go along with it.  Arrrgh.  I need a "Remove V1 tag" because Media Jukebox is adding it in the first place.

OK, hopefully next build will let you configure exactly how tags are created and removed on a per-plugin basis.

I'm using the latest build (8.0.207).

Other than this foible, I'm very impressed with Media Jukebox (I've made several converts at the office). It is excellent in handling a large library (> 39k tracks).

So, Matt... I gotta ask...

Just what did you mean yesterday about removing Media Library?

>Just what did you mean yesterday about removing Media Library?

It's just too complicated.  We've decided that "Playing Now" and "Devices" is all that's really needed.

Sorry, this one isn't open for discussion.

I guess we'll just have to trust and wait and see what you have in mind.

I have to admit to being a little nervous... I'm just hoping we're not going to lose all of the Media Views, and searching and stuff. But I'm sure you guys have something in mind. Next Page

Are you removing all of the Media Views and Playlists? Or are they just going to be relocated into Playing Now or something? I'd really hate to lose them...

We'll remove Media Library and Playlists tomorrow.

Next week we're going to remove audio playback.  Just too much commotion like it is.

The following week we're going to port Media Jukebox to run on toasters.

See where I'm going with this... (hint: ignore me)

I hate you. Next Page

Actually... I think I just need to lay off the compressed air or something (can't do that - I'm ice diving all weekend!!!). I'm usually not as gullible as this.

I was actually wondering tonight why you'd finally go and add Play and Send To to Media Library if you were just going to strip it out anyway.

But then I started rationalizing it... like TV Tuner would fit nicely into Devices. And Media Views and Playlists would fit well enough under Playing Now, even though the name wouldn't seem to fit anymore...

And I wondered why nobody was as concerned about this as I was!

Time for sleep, I think.

>>Hmm... the new look of MJ?

soon there will only be an "Exit" Option

that would be great, even my dad could use it then. but MJ would still be easier to use if it had an auto-exit-mode

Doof,
I heard somewhere that they're thinking about removing the word "gullible" from the dictionary.

I've been meaning to ask about that... what do I have to do to actually use that arsenolight vis component? Do I have to compile it?
