Title: MC 17 crashes after starting playback [Solved]

Hi there,
i am not aware of any recent changes on my PC or on MC 17, but suddenly MC crashes when I attempt to start playback (any kind of button / menu / playback)
I uninstalled and re-installed it - without success.
I am using Win7 pro on a i7 machine, Media Center is 17.0.189
Any suggestions?

Antivirus programs have been causing a lot of problems like this lately.

thx!
there are no antivirus apps installed.
but I changed a few settings for playback (in MC) and somehow it now works...
