I've been exploring the network aspects of MC. I've also set up a VPN, so have needed to sort through some MC and router configuration to re-establish required functionality. As a result, on the PC involved the Gizmo TCP Port is 52181.
After inserting the following into a web browser address bar:
localhost:52181
I'm directed to the Library Server page.
The Hang occurred when the link to "Library Server" was executed. The .zip file of all the standard files can be found at:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/7iv11g4bspkvcks/201403Mar28%20Hang.zip (https://www.dropbox.com/s/7iv11g4bspkvcks/201403Mar28%20Hang.zip)
During the Hang, Gizmo allowed Play to This Location but not Play to Player.
In addition, I believe that there is a fault with the Library Server page. The link referred to above shows the following text for that example:
mc19://MCWS/v1/Library/Connect?URL=m01p://localhost:52181
This command goes nowhere and brings up an error message, "Error Loading Library - There was a problem loading the library 'Connected Library'".
If I manually insert the following, then the system works sensibly:
mc19://MCWS/v1/Library/Connect?URL=http://localhost:52181
Isolated case? Late night keyboard entry fuddle during coding?

52199 is the default port.
The VPN could cause a problem. Try without it.
There is a wiki topic called "Network Access (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Network_Access)".
Get it working inside your LAN first, then try an outside connection.
The usual problems are with routing or firewall.

Note: I'm functional.
I'm set up to access MC via the network locally and remotely. Working great .. neat really.
Did the point about the address for the Library Server register?
-
Probably not.
Is it worth chasing?
Problems like this are often network related and take a lot of time to understand. Sorry if that sounds like I'm not interested in helping.
-
I don't think the link thing is a bug, just designed for use within MC, not from a browser.
-
Can you give a step by step to recreate the hang please? That part is unclear...

Sorry, I want to check that my message is getting through. Are you telling me that when a user executes the Library Server link (see pic), that the underlying address should read:
mc19://MCWS/v1/Library/Connect?URL=m01p://localhost:52181
?
Doesn't look right.
The error that gets thrown up is shown in the 2nd pic and it also doesn't look right. Especially when changing "m01p" to "http" gives a workable result - see 3rd pic.
The hang has passed and I haven't been able to repeat it, so Jim's comment to let it go is fair enough.
