Is 117 the latest stable version and where do I look to see the stable ones??

Is 224 the latest stable and not 117 as mine has not updated.

Its a little like splitting hairs.  The 117 release is still named the stable release, but 124 was just posted above today (this would be labelled "latest").  Look at the change logs for latest, and see if you care about the changes.  If not, stay with "stable".

Please use the stable build.  It will usually have fewer problems.
