Media Center should automatically create backups of your library every few days
I've not looked into backups in any detail yet, but can you change where they're backed up to, and the frequency? It's all well and good having backups, but if the disk dies, you've lost the backups too!
Also, does the backup include customizations to all the views (Standard, Theater etc.), as well as changes to audio output settings, aspect ratio correction etc.? Previously, if I did a re-install of Windows I wasn't worried about backing up the library or settings - just clean install and run Auto-Import again - all the coverart and sidecar files are on my NAS.
However, now that I use particles I wouldn't fancy redoing them all, so I'd need to backup and restore! What happens if you're running an older version of MC so the library backup is for that version, and after install you can't get that version any more? Can you restore a library from an older version to a newer one?
I don't mean restoring from 17 or 18, to 19. I mean restoring from say 19.1.1 to 19.2.2

you can set the location for the backups in the options>file location.
a lot of the views and the particles etc are part of the library, and in the backup also the settings are stored. and you can use the backups from older versions for the restores.

Backups are a very good idea with Particles as at this stage they only appear in the Library and are not part of the sidecar files. So if something goes wrong then a Backup is the only way of getting the Particle information back!

To be honest, that's how I think it should stay as well. Or at least make it user selectable.
Not sure I'd really want particles stored 'outside' of Media Center.
